Moore Zombies The Search for Gargoy edition by Wendy Knuth Brian Allen Children eBooks

A mystery tale about four zombie siblings working together to find Baby Zom's toy, Gargoy. The illustrations were colourful and very detailed. I loved the relationship between the siblings and how well they got along. Although this a family of zombies, I liked that there were no negative stereotypes associated with the family because of stigma, being that they're members of the undead. We didn't get any interactions between the family and the outside world, which would have been nice to see, but from the hints thrown around here and there (like the father's mask), we still get a sense of the world's view on the family, being that zombies are terrifying creatures. Perhaps this will be explored in other books featuring the Moore Family.

I didn't much like the narration. While it did involve the readers on the quest - curiosity to find out what happened to Gargoy and what Gargoy was - it didn't engage me on an emotional level. The narrator was simply reporting what happened, but the story was missing heart and soul for me.

It's a good read. It just didn't do much for me. I think kids between the ages of 5-7 will enjoy the story, especially the illustrations.

Moore Zombies The Search for Gargoy edition by Wendy Knuth Brian Allen Children eBooks Reviews

This is a cute and different premise for a children's story. Personally, I'm not so sure that I would want to be reading a book about Zombies to a child as young as four, although there's nothing "horror-ible" about the Moore family. There are fun and interesting characters, even if a little creepy looking. The story is about the search for Baby Zom's favorite toy, which has gone missing. One by one the siblings join in on the search. Truly, the scariest part is when Dad appears in a 'human' mask. Although the monster in the closet was a little bit scary too.
The illustrations are excellent and very detailed, with a little bit of a bluish, greenish, purplish, hue to most of them. The story doesn't flow quite as smoothly as I would like it to, but it's not something that a child would notice. (I still haven't quite figured out where the idea of a hippopotamus came from.)
But overall, this is a fun book for children, if you don't mind them hearing about zombies.
The author has taken the time to format their book correctly so that the text is part of the illustration meaning that you don't get a few lines of text on one page, a picture on the next, and a few more lines on a page after that when it's all supposed to be on the one page. This should be a requirement to publish books on but unfortunately it's not the norm and so many authors don't bother to do this so I always like to mention when an author cares enough about their readers, and their own work to do this. The book displays in both landscape and portrait mode but the page takes up more of the screen in portrait. My only criticism is that it would have been better if it took up the entire screen so you could appreciate the great illustrations to their full extent. It has brilliant colourful illustrations and was full of interesting characters that I'd love to read again in future books.

Basically we visit the Moore family who are all zombies, this book kind of reminded me of the Addams Family, where the characters get up to pretty much regular normal person things, just that they are in an environment that embraces bugs, spiders, reptiles and other so labelled gross stuff. The authors have added their own spin to zombie culture with the fact that zombies love tomato juice, their mothers are known as Mombie, they don't care about labels such as nerd and things like this. The basic plot of this one revolves around the three older Moore siblings coming to each other to help solve the mystery of their baby sister's missing Gargoy. You'll have to get to the end to find out what Gargoy is but whoever took it has left a few clues.
Kids are really into this kind of thing now a days. Zombies are actually popular and fun. Who would have known! This is a story about a great zombie family. The baby lost her toy stuffed animal and her brothers and sister help her find it. They work together to solve the mystery of the missing toy. Just be careful if reading this with very young kids. The baby has a chunk of skull missing with exposed brain matter. One of the brothers has no lips and it looks like his face is falling off. Everyone's arms have gashes and you can see the exposed muscle tissue inside. I mean there is worse on tv but be warned about this if you have very young sensitive children.

So this is creepy but still a story told for kids. In fact this zombie family acts a lot like a regular human family. Dad is in the garden while mom sweeps the house. The kids do homework and help each other out. So the story tries to keep zombies pleasant and normal in a way. Hey they love to drink tomato juice instead of eating brains or blood. Nice illustrations in color also. Very detailed and a unique and different ebook. Really creative story too.
